Ready to Run!
We know it is a tough district, and that it has been historically represented by a Republican. With Philip as our candidate, we CAN win this seat. Here’s why.
- Philip beat the Performance Index in the highly Republican 96th House of Delegates District by 13 points when he ran in 2003. What does that mean? Given the make-up of the district and its past history, Philip got 13% more of the vote than a reasonably-funded, Democratic candidate would have been expected to get. That’s the kind of performance we need in the 1st CD!
- Philip has experience campaigning in a tough district. As stated above, Philip ran in the 96th in 2003. He knocked on 10,000 doors himself, and his campaign knocked on 16,000+ overall. Philip is not new to the political world, and he knows what it will take to win.
- Philip already has a campaign in place. Once the Democratic nominee is chosen, this entire campaign will last ONE MONTH. There will be no time for a candidate to organize, hire staff, and gather volunteers. Philip has a campaign right now. Both staff and volunteers are already working to ensure that Philip is ready to run the minute the Convention is adjourned.
